I'm off to Portland for a friend's bachelorette party. Have you been? I've spent several girls' weekends there. It's a super fun, cool and hip city with great restaurants, fantastic shopping and tons of breweries. I mean, what more could a girl ask for?!
WE'RE GOING TO PARIS!! The plane tickets are booked and the apartment is rented! This trip is so long over due for me and it can't come soon enough! I'll have to wait several months though because it's not until November. But I feel like summer will pass quickly and it will be here before we know it.
I'm headed there and meeting my mom and my twin sister Sabina for 5 days. Then Dave and Parker will meet me over there and we'll be there for another week and half. That's right- I get two whole weeks in Paris! I get the best of both worlds-I get a girls' trip with my mom and my sister and I get a family trip with my favorite two peeps. And I'm so excited to have Dave and Parker there. It's where I grew up and I can't wait to share everything about my childhood with them. Where I went to school, where we lived, some of the parks we went to, fun stores like Monoprix, etc...I absolutely can't wait!
And bonus...on the way back we are spending 3 days in Reykjavik, Iceland! I have to admit that Reykjavik is not someplace that I would have thought of for tacking on to our trip. But, we are flying Iceland Air and we connect through there on the way back so we thought, why not?! I have actually always been interested in visiting a Nordic country so here's my chance! I am super excited to check it out. I have heard amazing things about it and heard that it's a great vacation city.
Did I mention that I CAN"T WAIT?!! Happy weekend!!
This past week our little family took a short road trip up to Sleeping Lady just outside of Leavenworth, WA. We had an amazing time. I highly recommend this place. We had a nice little cabin, the dogs were able to come with, the food was amazing and the property was beautiful. Our days consisted of playing in the snow, relaxing in the outdoor hot pool, happy hour at the "grotto" bar, and yummy dinners at the onsite restaurant. The resort is located about a half an hour past Steven's Pass and just before Leavenworth. Generally about a 2 hour drive from Seattle...unfortunately, the pass was closed on our way up there so it took about 5 hours on the way there but it was well worth it! Overall, happy kid, happy dog and happy parents! If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen the pics...but here they are:
The dogs were in heaven!
Early morning at the hot pool....it was so relaxing!
Parker went in the hot pools about 3 times a day...her favorite part for sure!
A little skiing...
And some hikes in the snow....
Not to mention some tubing, lunch and hanging out in Leavenworth, and catching up with some friends who coincidentally were in the cabin right next door. Overall, a great trip!
And now, back to reality, back to work and back to school!
A few camping instagrams:
Complete with a mid camping break to the Fort George Brewery in Astoria, Oregon! It kind of looks more like a beach trip than a camping trip. But I swear there were tents and woods involved. We camp at Cape Disappointment which is about 3.5 hours south of Seattle on the coast. Our campsite literally backs right up against the water so you get the best of both worlds. Anyhow, despite all of the prep it takes for camping and being dirty for three days, we did have a great time!
I have totally been MIA this week! I just realized that I only did 1 blog post all week (my goal is 3)! I don't know where the time goes, but somehow it got filled up with lots of stuff and I don't have much to show for it! Anyhow, in just a few short hours I'll be on that ferry headed to Bainbridge Island for a getaway weekend my favotite gals. We're leaving the hubbies and the kids behind for some shopping, eating, drinking and lounging!
Have a great weekend! Happy Friday!
We just returned from a week in Washington DC where we caught up with both sides of the family. We had amazing weather, caught up with old friends, had lots of family dinners, drank lots of wine, squeezed in a trip to Arlington National Cemetary as well as the Hillwood to see this amazing exhibit, and played at the park. And best of all, P got a good dose of love from her many cousins and all of her grandparents!
