Well, I think these last two items will be about it for me with Kids Clothes Week. I know the week isn't over yet but I'm starting to feel the tug to get back to City Kid sewing. And with today's picks I will have sewn my kid 5 items, so I think that's about enough! I should say that my projects changed from my original plans. But I think I did try 3 out 4 of the new patterns that I had set out to try so that's pretty good right?! And again, my pictures are awful...It's getting increasingly difficult to get this little girl to model for me. We end up bartering, bribing and bickering and then I just try and get the whole thing over with quickly and I never get good shots!
Okay...so first up today: How about a little Seahawk Love?
I know I have a friend who is probably gasping as she reads this because she thinks the Seahawks are dirty birdies (as told by her 7 year old daughter!). And I can't say that I'm much of a Seahawks fan either but P is a very loyal little girl and really wants to root for her home team. She's been asking for this for a while now so I finally obliged. And considering that Dave and I have now lived in Seattle for almost ten years, it might just be time for us to get on board and root for the home team as well!
As far as the details of the dress: The pattern is self drafted. It's the Classic City Kid Style dress which I've obviously sewn a million times so I was able to whip this out very quickly. I found several of these t-shirts for the Seahawks and a few other random sports teams on sale so I scooped them up knowing I'd use them eventually. The rib knit for the waist band and collar I think are from Banberry Place and the blue and silver heart knit for the skirt and sleeves I think is from Girl Charlee. I tend to buy fabric in bulk for City Kid and it's been a while since I ordered these two so I can't quite remember!
Anyhow, she loves it so it's a win!
And finally...another Slouchy Cardingan by Heidi & Finn:
I Love Love Love this pattern! So much so that I've been talking with the gal from Heidi & Finn about purchasing a license so that I can sell a few in the City Kid shop. Parker loved her first slouchy cardigan so I just decided to go ahead and scrap one of my other projects that I had planned and make this one. I had been patiently waiting the arrival of this grey star sweatshirt fleece from Banberry Place and it finally came the other day. I knew that it would be perfect for this cardigan. For the cuffs I used some grey star lycra fabric that I had in my City Kid stash. She wore it to school today and said that it was super cozy and comfortable. I think that I mentioned earlier this week that I may size up the largest size and make one for myself!
A few more shots:
On the last slouchy cardigan I made the cuffs too tight and had to redo them...on this one I think I made them too loose. Oh well, practice makes perfect...I'll just have to whip up a few more right?!
I'll be back in the next day or two with a fun coupon! Stay tuned!
Happy almost Friday!!
