For once I made something other than clothes! When we bought P's minnen bed from ikea, we bought the 3 piece mattress set to go with it because it's an extendable bed. But when we finally extended it into a full size bed, we bought a regular twin sized mattress for it. I kept the three pieces of the other mattress and they have actually been put to good use when P has friends over for sleep overs. But they were just taking up a lot of storage space. So I decided to make a little couch for P out of two of the pieces.
I happened to have just ordered this adorable La De Da fabric from Allegro Fabrics and when it arrived, I knew it would perfect to cover my little makeshift couch. I decided not to do any fancy box cover....in fact, I literally just wrapped both mattress pieces up like a present and safety pinned them on the bottom. I'm sure I could have figured out the whole box cover thing but it would have taken forever. What I am really proud of is these lovely pillow covers that I made:
I had two big down pillows that were not in use and some super soft minky fabric in both pink and blue. I didn't have enough pink to make two pink ones, but oh well...the teal blue is pretty too. Anyhow, I whipped up two of these in about an hour and a half and I love them. The printed part is actually like a pocket that you lift up and then shove the pillow into. See:
The back of the pillows are just plain:
Of course P wouldn't sit on it for me to take a picture...but Kit was happy to model for me:
I had left over blue minky and some more La De Da fabric so I made a little blanket for her bed as well:
Okay...I think that's it for today!! Happy Tuesday...and don't forget to vote!
