I have finally found enough time to sit down and post about one of the most memorable evenings that I’ve had in a long while. Several weeks ago, myself and about 10 other gals put on a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness called Beats for Boobs. B4B was launched 7 years ago in San Francisco by my friend from college Juliana. What started out as a small event to honor Juliana’s mother, who had just won her battle with breast cancer, is now an official non-profit organization that raises thousands of dollars each year to support breast cancer organizations.
The event is an evening of art, food, fashion and music. There are local artists and performers, a fashion show featuring local designers, She-jays spinning through out the evening and tons of delicious food and cheer. This year’s event in San Francisco hosted more than 1300 guests!
Just about this time last year, Juliana started talking about the possibility of bringing the event to different cities, Seattle in particular. She reached out to her long time friend Ashley who jumped on board, rounded up the rest of us and Beats for Boobs Seattle was born!
I don’t really know how to put into words what an amazing evening it was. I guess it’s something about being a part of such a large effort, working with an amazing group of girls and seeing the fruits of all of your work. It was such a fun night, we had a great turn out, raised a ton of money and I think over all we exceeded our expectations. I am still on a high from it and counting down the days to next year’s event!
